The picture below is from an old family album. We don’t know who the people are, but we know that one or more of them are related, and we assume the picture was taken on the ship on the way from Europe to the United States. I suspect that the young man in front is Joseph Herpak, my father’s cousin, because he was the youngest of our relatives who emigrated. But we just don’t know for sure, and anyone who might have been able to help has passed on. Sad, isn’t it? That’s why I do genealogy, to preserve as much of my family’s story as possible, because it is disappearing very rapidly.
